The Special Projects Engineer is responsible for analyzing and improving production processes to enhance efficiency, productivity, and quality within an organization.
Through the application of innovative solutions and technology, contributes to the overall success and competitiveness of the organization in meeting its operational goals and satisfying customer demands.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
? Conducts short and long-range planning for the organization?s facilities and services, implementing solutions and projects as approved.
? Designs cost-effective manufacturing layouts and building ergonomics for new product lines.
? Designs, redesigns, or enhances work areas and layouts so that awkward or uncomfortable positions, repetitive motions, and inefficient operations are reduced or eliminated.
? Maintains knowledge of best practices in manufacturing methods, and trends and developments in technology and equipment; applies this knowledge to maintain the organization?s competitive edge.
? Identifies and assesses various problems and departures from established manufacturing standards and best practices; researches and recommends solutions.
? Implements methods and modifications to reduce production costs.
? Conducts time and motion studies to identify opportunities to improve overall efficiency and cost savings relative to employees and facilities.
? Establishes reasonable time and production standards.
? Uses mathematical analysis to identify objective measurements of alternate work patterns.
? Develops cost and time-saving recommendations and modifications to work methods, staffing requirements, and equipment and facilities upgrades.
? Designs and coordinates all phases of the production process using industrial engineering principles and best practices.
? Drafts schedules for implementation of long-range plans and proposals.
? Monitors project progress, drafting and distributing periodic progress reports for leadership and stakeholders.
? Maintains compliance with applicable laws, regulations, policies, and best practices.
Qualifications
? Industrial Engineering degree required.
? Five years of related experience required.
? Manufacturing experience preferred.
? Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
