Assists the Resident Maintenance Engineer (RME) and Assistant Resident Maintenance Engineer (ARME) in scheduling and supervising work of foremen and maintenance crews on a daily basis in area of asphalt repairs, drainage maintenance, bridge maintenance, right-of-way management, and maintenance of roadside appurtenances.
Investigates work requests and complaints from the general public, local officials, or SCDOT personnel.
Recommends corrective action and ensures completion in a timely manner.
Communicates with public, local officials, and administrators concerning work requests and work to be performed.
Assists Resident Maintenance Engineer, and Assistant Resident Maintenance Engineer in planning and organizing maintenance work to accomplish daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, and yearly goals.
Assists Resident Maintenance Engineer, and Assistant Resident Maintenance Engineer with enforcement of current department policies and assists with training of maintenance crews in safety and maintenance functions to maintain a high level of competence among crew members.
Reviews and completes data entry into Highway Maintenance Management System (HMMS), HMMS reports, and yearly Employee Performance Management System (EPMS) evaluations of maintenance foremen.
Conducts monthly foremen's meeting.
Conducts safety and other meetings in conjunction with RME.
Performs other related duties as needed.
Five (5) years of related work experience; or an approved acceptable equivalence in accordance with State Human Resources Regulations.
Necessary Special Requirement: A valid motor vehicle operator’s license is required upon entry to the position.
A valid Class "A" Commercial Driver's License.
(NOTE): This position requires a valid Class "A" Commercial Driver's License within six (6) months of placement in the position.
