Overview: Savannah River Mission Completion (SRMC) is seeking a Senior Quality Assurance (QA) Engineer I, II, or III to be based in our Aiken, SC location on the Savannah River Site (SRS).

The Senior Quality Assurance (QA) Engineer I, II, or III provides quality assurance for the implementation of and compliance to federal and state regulatory requirements applicable to safely manage chemical and radioactive material during construction, operation, and closure activities at the Salt Waste Processing Facility (SWPF).
Responsibilities: Defines basic to moderately complex scopes of technical and quality assurance (QA) engineering programs and develops effective, quality solutions.
Develops standard QA programs and procedures within and sometimes across multiple organizations and one or more disciplines and ensures compliance and effective execution of technical and quality assurance requirements within the assigned facility or program area.
Defines specific problems based on general information from management and customers.
Plans Quality Assurance efforts and coordinates activities with those of other divisions, departments, and sections in focused areas to solve problems.
Ensures compliance with quality assurance requirements, proper utilization and training of personnel operating under one's quality/technical guidance, and compliance with approved schedules and staffing estimates.
Ensures appropriate quality performance of the end process/program developed and designed to resolve the original problem.
Incorporates technical and quality engineering practices such as: technical requirements, application of new or special materials or processes, and coordination or oversight requirements into problem solving and program planning.
Accountable for compliance with the approved schedules and ensures personnel under one's technical guidance are appropriately trained and effectively utilized.
Prepares plans including schedules, budgets and personnel requirements for solving technical and quality engineering tasks identified by management.
Performs assessments, surveillances and oversight activities to ensure compliance with procedural and regulatory requirements.
Develops schedules, monitors progress, monitors expenditures of budget and reviews quality of work completed to ensure that technical and quality requirements are met.
Determines scheduling requirements for assigned tasks, in collaboration with management.
Supports facility/project needs within assigned area by conducting procedure reviews, work package reviews and/or procurement document reviews.
Develops program performance reports that identify such items as company and program level compliance with requirements, corrective action program trends, and identification of programmatic improvements.
Evaluates the results of programs through surveillances, monitoring, assessments, and reviews; prepares reports and recommendations based on these evaluations.
Effectively communicates results and objectives to customers, colleagues, and management.
Periodically communicates QA Program and corrective action status with DOE-SR personnel and company first and mid-level management.
Provides technical support to site training division on a rotational basis and provides QA expertise and guidance to the training organization.
May identify and recommend improvements where established technology, methodology, and procedures are inadequate for solution.

Additional responsibilities as a Sr.
QA Engineer II: Defines scope of medium to complex technical and quality assurance (QA) engineering programs and develops effective, quality solutions.
Develops standard QA programs and procedures across multiple organizations and disciplines and ensures compliance and effective execution of technical and quality assurance requirements within the assigned facility or program area.
Defines scope of medium to complex technical and quality assurance programs and develops effective quality solutions.
Routinely communicates QA Program and corrective action status with Department of Energy customer personnel including mid-level and executive management.
Serves as knowledgeable task specific subject matter expert in evaluating programs, subcontractors, etc to ensure quality program effectiveness and recommends problem solutions.
Coaches and mentors others in quality program effectiveness.
Provides technical support as task specific subject matter expert to site training division and provides QA expertise and guidance to the training organization.
Expected to identify and recommend improvements where established technology, methodology, and procedures are inadequate or ineffective for solution.
Additional responsibilities as a Sr.
QA Engineer III: Develops complex QA programs and procedures and ensures compliance and effective execution of technical and quality assurance requirements within the assigned facility or program area.
Defines scope of complex technical and quality assurance (QA) engineering programs and develops effective, quality solutions.
Communicates objectives and results to customers, colleagues, and management.
Prepares reports, professional papers, and articles for internal publication.
Communicates with DOE-SR personnel regarding QA Program and corrective action status.
May prepare reports for external publication.
Provides technical support to site training division on a rotational basis and provides QA expertise and guidance to the training organization.
Serves as a QA expert in evaluating the QA Programs of major program participants, including subcontractors and suppliers, to recommend corrective actions, redirect efforts, and provide judgment regarding a project or facility's potential for success.
Presents findings to program or facility management and Site QA.
Enhances expertise in field through leadership in local technical societies.
May also participate in national technical societies, advanced studies, or national consensus standards committees.
May design, develop, and implement QA training programs based on specific quality engineering principles, special materials and processes; multi-faceted and regulatory requirements following training, development, and delivering procedures.
May serve on a Facility Review Board, providing QA expertise in support of facility start-up and/or operation.

Qualifications: High School Diploma/GED and relevant work experience in Quality Assurance, Quality Control, or Engineering in the fields of operations, maintenance, construction or industrial manufacturing as defined in the job description.
Additional Information: Certification with continuing technical training is required for performance of inspections and surveillance activities.
Specialized training may also be required to support certain technical areas.
Any candidate(s) selected to receive an offer will be offered the position level commensurate with their experience and qualifications.
Preferred Qualifications: Bachelors or Associates degree NQA-1 Technical degree preferred Previous/current quality certifications Certification with continuing training is required for performance of inspection and contract surveillance activities.
Specialized training may also be required to support certain technical areas.
About: Savannah River Mission Completion (SRMC), a prime contractor for the US Department of Energy, is responsible for managing the Department of Energy’s Savannah River Site’s Liquid Waste operations contract.
