BAE Systems is seeking an experienced Engineering Technologist II to support our 2rd Shift Weld Operations by developing and implementing processes for new welded assemblies as well as directing continuous improvement efforts on existing products.
This exciting opportunity offers the ability to learn and implement cutting edge welding technology, thereby making a real difference in the success of BAE Systems.
In this position, you will be supporting the Combat Mission Systems (CMS) Business onsite at our Aiken, SC facility.
As an Engineering Technologist II, you will: Perform professional technical work that involves knowledge of engineering principles; manufacturing concepts, techniques and practices.
Perform design review and provide feedback to ensure producibility of welded assemblies Develop and implement weld and weld support processes.
This includes deox, sandblast, MIG, and TIG processes based on engineering drawings, applicable weld code and design specifications.
Research and select raw materials and develop BOM (Bills of Material) based upon drawing specifications and material availability.
Document processes in routings within the Oracle ERP system and develop Process Work Instructions to provide clear and concise Standard Work Instructions.
Provide effective, timely production engineering support to address technical issues.
Develop factory layouts to support efficient material flow.
Develop BOE (Basis of Estimate), RFQ (Requests for Quotes), and SOW (Statement of Work) to support bid proposals, capital projects and subcontract manufacturing operations.
Drive continuous improvement opportunities to positively impact Quality and Cost metrics.
Support the world class safety performance and culture at BAE systems by actively seeking to improve workplace safety and ergonomics.
Required Education, Experience, & Skills Bachelors Degree in Engineering (e.
g.
, Mechanical, Civil, Industrial, etc.
); or an Associates Degree (e.
g.
, Manufacturing Technology, Mechanical Engineering, etc.
), and two (2) years experience; or a relevant Weld Certification and 8+ years experience Must be able to work 2nd shift (2:30 pm - 11:00 pm) Experience with one or more of the following processes: Gas-Metal-Arc Welding (GMAW), GMAW-Pulse, Gas-Tungsten-Arc Welding (GTAW), Shielded-Metal-Arc Welding (SMAW) Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills Computer literacy to include MS Office applications including Word and Excel Working proficiency in Oracle (or equivalent ERP System) and EPDM (or equivalent Product Development Lifecycle Tool) Demonstrated ability to promote world class safety performance through relevant project work and participation in safety audit programs Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills Ten to fifteen years in Weld Manufacturing and/or Fabrication Experience with American Welding Society (AWS) D1.

2 or similar Weld Code Blueprint reading and GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) Resource planning system exposure / ERP (Oracle, SAP) AutoCAD, MasterCAM, CREO, Windchill Pay Information Full-Time Salary Range: $68700 - $116800 Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures.
However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
