Forklift Operator POSITION SUMMARY The Forklift Operator will be assigned to one of 5 areas: Receiving, Shipping, Treating Plant, Stacker, or Kiln.
Regardless of area assigned, the Forklift Operator is responsible for moving wood bundles throughout the production process while maintaining environmental and safety compliance at all times.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/DUTIES Ensure all environmental and safety procedures are followed and report all unsafe or non-compliant issues.
If assigned to Receiving or Shipping, unload and load trucks in a safe and appropriate manner.
If assigned to the Treating Plant, load and unload tram cars and stage material next treating charge(s) in a safe and appropriate manner.
If assigned to Stacker, load material on to the stacker infeed to be processed.
Remove sticked material and stage for kiln loading.
Remove finish goods and place in appropriate area of finished goods storage in a safe and appropriate manner.
If assigned to Kiln, load and unload kiln charges as directed by Kiln Technician in a safe and appropriate manner.
Move safe and appropriately throughout a gravel covered yard without damaging material.
Place spacers on the ground and between bundles as required.
Attend all training sessions and safety meetings.
Maintain Daily Forklift Operators Checklist.
Other duties as directed.
QUALIFICATIONS High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED) recommended.
Ability to learn and obtain a forklift operating permit.
Prefer someone who has experience with a large industrial type forklift Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Ability to use thinking and reasoning to solve problems.
Ability to communicate effectively with others.
Ability to demonstrate behaviors conforming to Hoover’s set of values and accepted standards.
