ACT Substance Abuse Counselor
Working with a team of counselors, nurses, therapists, and case managers, you will provide services to adult clients in the community focusing on aspects of substance abuse and other mental health issues.
You will conduct initial and ongoing assessments of client strengths, substance abuse, mental health treatment needs, and biopsychosocial histories.
You will meet with clients regularly to provide individual and group SA counseling, intervention techniques, and crisis assessments, and link clients to community resources such as AA as needed.

What is ACT: ACT is an Evidence Based Practice that is person-centered, recovery-oriented, and a highly intensive community-based service for individuals who have serious and persistent mental illness.
The service utilizes a multidisciplinary mental health team, including Psychiatrists, Nurses, Social Workers/Counselors, Substance Abuse Counselors, Employment Specialists, Certified Peer Specialists, and Case Managers.
The ACT Team works as one organizational unit providing community-based interventions that are rehabilitative, intensive, integrated, and stage specific.
Services emphasize social inclusiveness though relationship building and the active involvement in assisting individuals to achieve a stable and structured lifestyle.
ACT is a unique treatment model in which the majority of mental health services are directly provided by the ACT program in the recipient’s natural environment.
ACT services are individually tailored with each individual to address his/her preferences and identified goals, which are the basis of the Individualized Recovery Plan.

CAC-I, CAC-II, GCADC-I, CADC, CADC-T or CCIT
Communicate effectively in writing and orally
Have an understanding of and sensitivity to serving the culturally diverse and dual diagnosed mental health population
Valid Georgia Driver’s License, clean Motor Vehicle Record (MVR); Clean Criminal Back Ground Check (no conviction or credible evidence of abuse, neglect, or sexual exploitation)
