What You'll Do in This Position Perform firefighting and rescue functions, hazardous material incident response, emergency medical services, fire equipment inspection, testing and maintenance, and facility inspections.
Work under limited supervision in IDLH (Immediately Dangerous to Life & Health) atmospheres and perform firefighting functions in hot, humid and dangerous / radiological environments.
Identify conformance and non-conformance with NFPA Codes and Standards, OSHA and DOE Orders.
Work from standard and special procedures, NFPA Codes, OSHA and DOE Orders, job plans, and supervisory direction.
Drive and operate heavy mobile fire equipment including trucks with associated pumps and specialized rescue and hazardous materials equipment.
Respond to off-site emergencies, including fires, rescues, and hazardous material incidents, when requested by appropriate authorities.
Maintain records of all inspections, maintenance, tests and fires.
Perform fire protection functions such as inspecting, testing and maintaining all fire equipment.
Inspect all buildings for fire hazards or hazardous conditions.
Routinely work in radiological controlled areas.
Security Clearance Information SRNS is required by DOE to conduct a pre-employment drug test and background review that includes checks of personal references, credit, criminal records, and employment history, and education verifications.
Positions with SRNS may require applicants to obtain and maintain a DOE L or Q-level security clearance, which requires U.
S.
citizenship.
Factors such as pre-employment background review results, dual citizenship status, and unpaid and/or unfiled taxes may impact your ability to obtain a security clearance.

Clearance Required to Perform Job? Q Qualifications We Require Successful completion of department training and physical fitness programs.
Must pass a Job Performance Test on a frequency established by FD Management.
Satisfactory performance as an Entry Firefighter Grade 16 within the emergency Response Unit for: * 12 months with no previous related experience above SGL 16 entry requirements * 11 months with 1 year previous related experience above SGL 16 entry requirements * 10 months with 2 years previous related experience above SGL 16 entry requirements * 9 months with 3 years previous related experience above SGL 16 entry requirements * 8 months with 4 years previous related experience above SGL 16 entry requirements Other Qualifications IFSAC/NPQ Firefighter II Certification as a South Carolina Emergency Medical Technician and/or National Registry Emergency Medical Technician Hazardous Materials Operations Satisfy all essential firefighting functions as identified by NFPA 1582 Section 5.

Must continually meet the requirements of the fire department’s physical fitness program.
Must pass a Job Performance Test on a frequency established by FD Management.
Must maintain certification by training the minimum number of hours as prescribed by the Savannah River Site (SRS) Fire Department Training Program.
Must maintain EMT/Paramedic Certification prescribed by the SRS Fire Department Emergency Medical Service Continuing Education Program.
Qualifications We Desire Previous experience as a professional firefighter.
Previous experience as a practicing Emergency Medical Technician.
Must be able to obtain: Hazardous Materials Technician Certification Candidate must provide copies of all applicable firefighting, EMS, HAZMAT, instructor, officer, and rescue certifications and/or cards.
A copy of a transcript from educational institutions (such as a Fire Academy) is strongly recommended.
Candidate must provide proof of dates of service and/or relevant experience.
