Position Description Advertised Job Summary Dean of the School of Nursing The University of South Carolina Aiken invites applications for the position of the Dean of the School of Nursing.
The Dean provides leadership and guidance in all aspects of the college, including teaching, scholarship/creative activities, intellectual development, program development, advancement, administrative management, and representation of the School both within and outside the University.
The School of Nursing supports 16 full time faculty, enrolls approximately 350 students and offers the Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing (BSN) as a face-to-face traditional offering or an RN/BSN completion track online.
The BSN program is fully accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) and is approved by the South Carolina Board of Nursing.
The pass rate for the NCLEX exam exceeds the National average.
Reporting to the Executive Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs, the responsibilities of the dean include, but are not limited to: support faculty recruitment, development, evaluation, and promotion; manage financial, personnel, and physical resources; lead and support accreditation processes; cultivate and steward alumni and community relations; collaborate with partners within and outside the university; and secure and facilitate external funding through fundraising and grant acquisition, both public and private.
Qualifications: · Master’s degree and earned doctorate in nursing required.
PhD in Nursing preferred.
· Unencumbered SC and GA nursing licenses must be obtained by date of hire.
· Experience in administration and accreditation in a traditional baccalaureate nursing degree granting institution.
Master’s education experience a plus.
· Established record of academic and professional achievement meriting tenure at the appropriate rank.
· Demonstrated commitment to creating a climate of research excellence, mentoring, and scholarly achievements.
· Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with varied internal and external constituencies.
· Recent teaching and clinical experience preferred.
· Dynamic and visionary leadership with enthusiasm for the position and the ability to build a strong sense of collegiality in the School and across campus.
· An ability to foster faculty development in teaching, scholarship, and service.
· A demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging.
Salary is commensurate with education and experience.
