Head Start Case Worker WHO WE ARE GLEAMNS Human Resources Commission, Incorporated, is a community-based organization that works in partnership with our local communities to deliver quality services, assistance, and opportunities to eligible customers with emphasis placed on education, employment, and developing self-sufficiency.
One of our flagship programs is Head Start which provides a quality education, healthy meals, and safe playing environment for preschool-aged children to create a strong foundation to help our communities’ children thrive and succeed.

THE MISSION The Case Worker is expected to: Provide social services and assistance to improve the social and psychological functioning of children and their families and to maximize the family well-being and the academic functioning of children.
Provide support services to children and families, encompassing health and parenting skills within the objectives of the Head Start Program.
A SNAPSHOT OF EXCITING THINGS YOU WILL DO: Interview clients individually, in families, or in groups, assessing their situations, capabilities, and problems to determine what services are required to meet their needs.
Develop a coordinated family service plan, based on the interview/needs assessment, to include healthcare, for each family.
Initiates contacts with community support services that addresses comprehensive needs.
Maintain case history records and prepare reports, to include monthly attendance, medical and dental screenings, medical and dental follow up and immunizations.
Refer clients to community resources for services, such as job placement, debt counseling, legal aid, housing, medical treatment, or financial assistance, and provide concrete information, such as where to go and how to apply.
Serve as liaisons between students, homes, schools, family services, child guidance clinics, courts, protective services, doctors, and other contacts to help children who face problems, such as disabilities, abuse, or poverty.
Counsel students whose behavior, school progress, or mental or physical impairment indicate a need for assistance, diagnosing students' problems and arranging for needed services.
Organize family meetings at the Center, provide training, keep notes and minutes of all meetings.
Arrange for follow-up on home visits with parents, if appropriate.
Monitor family progress.
Evaluate characteristics of individuals to determine needs or eligibility.
Related occupations Collaborate with other professionals to assess client needs or plan treatments.
Prepare client file documentation and provide periodic reports to the Family & Community Partnerships Manager.
Perform other social services, as required.

WHAT YOU WILL BRING TO THE TABLE: S.
Degree in Social Services or related field, or a combination of education and experience commensurate with the job description.
Minimum of two years work experience in a social services environment.
Must enroll in a program that will lead to an associate, baccalaureate, or CDA that will be completed within two years of hire date.
Computer savvy, especially Microsoft products.
Must be able to work well on a team.
Valid South Carolina Driver’s License is required.
A Commercial’s Driver’s License is required or must be obtained within 90 days of employment.
The ability to meet the following physical requirements: Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
