Jacobs is seeking a Switch Engineer Supervisor to join our team supporting our federal customer at the Savannah River Site.
Jacobs Technology Inc.
provides telecommunications system operation and maintenance services as well as site operator services at SRS.
This position supports an operation and maintenance program managing the voice and data services at the Savannah River site.
Responsibilities:
Act as Direct Supervisor for the Jacobs field operation personal at the Savannah River Site
Provide analysis, design, engineering, and management for DOE SRS System upgrades, expansions
Hands-on operation and maintenance of equipment and facilities residing in the facilities, material ordering, various studies, reports, and recommendations; equipment includes includes the Avaya switches, Ciena Optical Ring, telecommunications management system (TMS), Nokia 7705 SAR-8; AVST Voice Mail; power systems and batteries; distribution frames; transmission equipment and multiplexers; and integrated subsystems
Develop new proposals as requested by SRNS IT which includes generic software updates, VoIP, voicemail mailbox sizing, etc.
Ensure requirements for field engineer’s performances are met
Responsible for the planning, scheduling, monitoring, and coordinating all service order activity, detected and reported troubles in the from the NOC
Interface activities with IT, administration of the TMS databases, responsibility for the TMS hardware and software administration and maintenance interfaces
Provide monthly reports to IT, notifying IT STR of any abnormal or critical situations, interface with peers regarding day to day operation and emergency situations and monitors
Interact with all database suppliers to maintain systems, perform corrective maintenance, add enhancements, and maintain TMS systems reliability, integrity and security
Ensure contract SLAs are met

Here’s What You’ll Need:
Bachelor Degree in Telecommunications; experience considered in lieu of degree

S.
Citizenship is required
In-depth knowledge and working experience in voice networks and the various elements (switching, signaling, intelligence network, messaging, directory, notification, etc.
) voice equipment, and standard applications used within
Voice switch routing and translations experience
Knowledge of Voice Over IP (VoIP)
Working knowledge of data networks
Strong Customer Service skills
The ability to analyze and interpret data, communicate orally, and in writing in a clear and straightforward manner, communicate with all levels of management
Ability to work independently, be flexible, work with others to resolve problems, handle requests or situations
Must have a current driver’s license & be able to pass an alcohol and substance abuse test
Must be able to pass to obtain DOE Clearance
Must be able to work flexible hours
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to lift, up to 50 lbs
Stand on your feet for extended periods of time
Preferred:
DOE Clearance.
Certified in AVAYA and Cisco VoIP
